LPP Fusion has fired its first shots on its upgraded fusion device renamed Focus Fusion 2B (FF2B). In serious scientific fashion the device was renamed using a slide rule which was a family heirloom of Chief Scientist Eric Lerner. The upgraded device is using newly installed beryllium electrodes. Initial shots in the device vaporized some of the thin layers of beryllium from the anodes. The dust and other impurities have been self -clearing as the shot count increased. LPP Fusion reports that their new ceramic switches are functioning well and their “two Langmuir probes for the ion beam and an electron beam Rogowski coil” instruments are working well. By shot 13 fusion yield has improved dramatically. LPP is reporting progress on a weekly basis on their Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/LPPFusion/
