University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) has been working on refining simulation and modeling of laser-driven inertial confinement fusion (ICF) experiments. As part of ICF tests multiple lasers are fired through the plasma to target the fuel used in a laser driven ICF, those lasers interact with one another and can exchange energy. They have been working to refine the model to see how the lasers interact with one another and the plasma. For the first time collaborators Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have recently demonstrated how the lasers affect the plasma.
