China is preparing to turn on their newest reactor, HL-2M, located in Chengdu, Sichuan and built under the control of China National Nuclear Corporation. The plan is that tokamak based HL-2M will reach 200 million degrees Celsius (360 million degrees Fahrenheit). Heat is not everything as pressure also plays a part in getting fusion to occur. This new reactor is part of China’s fusion program and is part of the progress progress towards China’s Fusion Engineering Test Reactor and also in support of ITER.
