Fusion researchers at Osaka University have developed a novel method for improving on laser based fast ignition fusion reactors. This method is being called “super-penetration” fast ignition. The method uses a traditional inertial confinement method but then adds a second laser to heat the plasma core further creating additional fusion energy.
