Pablo Rodriguez-Fernandez , studying at MIT, focused his thesis on fusion plasma issues in tokamaks. Rodriguez-Fernandez found that by cooling certain parts at the edge of the plasmoid that the core got hotter. Some of this had been observed years ago but the mechanics of it had not been studied. It is hoped that the ITER project can benefit from this research.
